The Writing and Learning Center’s graduate school preparation program is available to help Adelphi students and alumni in every step of the process. We have services that will help you prepare for entrance exams, navigate the application process, complete the actual application, compose a personal statement or statement of purpose, complete supplemental applications, and develop effective interviewing skills.
The Learning Center offers test-prep workshops on specific sections of the GRE, GMAT, LSAT and MCAT exams during the academic year and summer.
Specialized assistance is available for helping you to determine which schools to apply to, how to request letters of recommendation, and when to take your grad school entrance exam.
For pre-med students, we can assist you with the AMCAS application, including helping you with your list of 15 activities/accomplishments and your three most meaningful experiences.
Personal statements cover the personal, academic and pre-professional aspects of an applicant’s life. Statements of purpose focus mainly on the academic and pre-professional, and are often used for M.B.A. and science Ph.D. programs.
Writing either of these statements is a very time-consuming process, and many drafts are needed in order to produce an impressive final product.
In addition to completing the centralized application, students applying to medical school, dental school, and physician assistant graduate programs must also complete supplemental applications from their designated schools.
Intensive practice sessions enable students to master the art of interviewing and handle the extensive range of questions that can be asked during interviews.
